#8274 closed defect (fixed)

inlineeditbox: tabbing away from non-autosave textarea leaves cursor in textbox

Reported by: Becky Gibson Owned by: Douglas Hays
Priority: high Milestone: 1.3
Component: Dijit - Form Version: 1.2.3

open dijit/tests/test_InlineEditBox.html in Firefox 3. Tab down to the textarea inilneEditBox above sincerely. Press space/enter to activate. Enter text, "hello", press tab three times so focus moves to the inlineEditBox after Sincerely. Since no button (save nor canceL) was invoked, the buttons remain active. If you now type characters, they appear in the inlineEditBox after "hello" even though focus is now on another control. If you shift-tab back to the save button and invoke save, the additional characters typed after focus moved away from the inlineEditBox are not saved. In IE7 the caret remains blinking in the inlineEditBox when you tab away but additional characters are not displayed when typed.

When the user tabs away from the textarea, they should no longer be able to enter additional characters. If they submit a form and have not explicitly saved the field, I think the data for that field should not be submitted (so tabbing away with no action ultimately acts like a cancel).

This was discovered in 1.2.3 but occurs in 1.1 as well.
