Book Of Dojo examples don't work on WebKit

Description

A lot of the examples in the Book Of Dojo don't seem to work on Safari. This is both with the latest WebKit? nightly and the Safari that's shipped with OS X 10.5.5.

The solution is probably as easy as updating all examples to Dojo 1.2.

This should probably be closed because book issues are/were tracked directly in the book, and because it sounds like we may not be maintaining the book, but it might be good to upgrade the Drupal site anyway, as there are still 1.1 demos out there which do not work. I'm skeptical that upgrading to 1.2 would fix Safari problems, though. I wonder if there are other issues, or if this is just some situation with Drupal and the way the demos are set up?

Sorry, overlooked the part that said that Book issues are tracked in the Book =) (wouldn't have expected that) The demos at Dojo Campus seem to work a bit better, although I'm also experiencing some problems there using those same browsers. It's kind of a shame, because it makes Dojo a no-go for me atm. =(

We're in transition and are looking for a better way to track such issues. Care to provide any details on the campus problems? I can't help you based on the info above.

The problems on dojocampus luckily aren't as bad as in the Book (where a lot of example just don't work) Take the Dijit NumberSpinner? for example. The keys don't work and the value in the textbox aren't updated onChange, but rather onBlur. The styled NumberSpinner? is huge and has an ugly blue border. In addition, a lot of controls have a blue selection border in Safari. This same blue border causes artifacts in the slider examples. The textbox Dijit example also fires onBlur, instead on onChange. The mail example at http://dojocampus.org/explorer/featureexplorer/Dijit/Mail/Mail.full.html is completely scrambled.

Hopefully most Safari related issues can be resolved for 1.3. I would really like to get started with Dojo =)

I suspect these are problems with the book, not Dojo on Safari in general. If we can recreate these problems outside the book, such as the tests directory, we should have individual tickets for these problems in trac. The other stuff might just be work-in-progress. We're working on a better way to track these issues.

The book is not going to be carried forward. Individual failures should be tracked individually, and the campus docs will be much easier to maintain in this regard.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
