Grid should support both direct and indirect selection methods

Description

Grid currently allows the user to select rows by clicking directly on the rows. I refer to this as direct selection as the user interacts directly with the row to select it. There are often situations were it's better for the user to use what I call 'indirect' selection, that is, to click on adjacent check boxes (for multiple selection) or radio buttons (for single selection). For example, there are often links embedded within the rows so it can become confusing for the user to determine how to select the row directly without selecting the links. Indirect selection eases this problem. Grid should allow the client to specify whether direct or indirect selection is to be used and, if the latter, whether check boxes or radio buttons are needed.
