new dojo site design unreadable

The new Dojo site design is unreadable in my Web browser, the site requires a very wide browser window and becomes completely unuseable as you get slimmer. The "tertiary content" seems to have more importance than the main content as it is very much wider and has a huge heading.

I also find the serif'd fonts deeply difficult to read, and the default size too small (and/or the line-spacing too tight). The documentation section templates provide absolutely unreadable results in the print template (i.e., print-preview).

A two-column version would be very useful. We may want to re-evaluate things to see if 3 columns is actually to our advantage.

Not to be an ass, but, Alex, the fonts are the same as your blog's and are a bigger size. So...?

david: the fonts may be the same size, but the line spacing is not. Readability is not just about font size. I should also fix the fonts on my blog to be sans-serif, but that's another bug. Improving the Dojo blog should not hinge on my sloth with my personal blog ;-)

Line-height/font size ratio now at 1.5.

I would like a screen shot of what you guys are seeing here. The blog is set to render at the equivilent of 11pt by default which should be much more than readable; and when it was developed I made sure to test on the four major browsers (FF, IE, Saf and Opera), on two different boxes, with some sanity checking by a couple of others in different locations. Didn't hear a peep about unreadability due to font size...I copied best practices from the CSS community with that (the main text column--at the intended design width--ends up to be very close to the font size and specs at What Do I Know, which is a definite model here).

I will work over some ideas for a change in the columns size on the right, bring those down a little bit in width.

I am also still kicking around ideas for a two column design, but I am *not* planning on implementing that anywhere but the documentation section, where it makes the most sense.

Site design has been changed a bit so that the balance between content column and two side columns is nearly or equal at 800 x 600 (as opposed to 1024 x 768, which was the original design).
