ComboBox html mode

I apologize for repeatedly starting this ticket however I have searched high and low; wiki, documentation, tickets, forums, and random Googling for answers or code samples but have come up empty.

I'm currently running Dojo 0.4.3 and seeing as the upgrade to version 0.9 or 1.0 is no longer backwards compatible, I'd hope that you could shed some light on my problem as we cannot upgrade at the moment.

  1. In version 0.4.3's ComboBox?, is the mode="html" a valid mode? Using mode="remote" works perfectly with JSON objects but the html mode does not seem to want to work. While the code is great, Dojo's documentation has always been somewhat poor and out-of-date. Perhaps in an upgrade to 0.4.3, the html mode was removed but accidentally left in the documentation?
  1. If it IS a valid mode, how exactly does it work? Could you provide me with any code samples? All I'm doing is replacing the mode parameter from "remote" to "html" and replacing the JSON object with plain text, but it does not get displayed in the dropdown box.

Thanks in advance!

Dup of #5566. Have you tried *posting* a message to the forums, like I suggested in that bug?

No, I didn't because none of the ComboBox?-related question I looked up in the forums ever got answered.

Could you please just give me a simple "yes" or "no" answer? Is the html mode valid in version 0.4.3 (rev 8617) or is it deprecated? I will figure out the rest...

After lots of testing and hacking, I've deduced that the html mode does not work. Please see this forums page for details. I tried to document my progress as best as I could and I hope it helps.

There is no html mode in 0.4.x. It was removed by #476 in favor of always specifying a class handler that could provide access to the data - including to html data. The comment in the code was incorrectly left unchanged.
