Description
The current forum organization is not intuitive enough for the average user of Dojo; too many support topics are being posted in the wrong spots, simply because the organization has buried the main forums too far down the page. Because of this, we're going to reorganize the forums to look like the following:
- Dojo Core
- Support
- General Discussion
- Developers
- Dijit
- Support
- General Discussion
- Developers
- DojoX
- Support
- General Discussion
- Developers
- Dojo Foundation
- News and Announcements
- Events
- General Discussion
- Showcase
- Production Apps
- Jobs
- SoC 2007
In addition, we're going to put the search form at the top of every forum view page, to encourage its use.
Finally, we'd like to put at least *some* version of the Etiquette rules on every "Post new topic" page, plus a shortened warning on every reply form--so that these things are front and center when someone is posting a new topic.
Hopefully this will help people find what they are looking for a lot easier.

If you have duplicate sub forms (ie, a General Discussion for more than 1 Forum... Uniquify the names by naming them "Dijit Discussion" or "DojoX Discussion" not "General Discussion" in both... (this will help with unique URLS)
Thats my only request for this ;)

Re-org is done... just have to do some DB hacking to merge the threads that need moving (doing it via Drupal seems to still delete a moved thread when its original parent forum is deleted... weird....)

DB hacking (actually hacked Drupal too (fixed the bug that caused moving topics to still mark the old forum as having a new activity)) is complete. All topics have been merged into the new forums (Install,Pre-install,update,performance were all merged into Dojo Core Support)
Adding of rules and such to the forum pages will be done at a later time.

Not sure who added the new Legacy forum, adding Alex to the CC list since I saw an email from him saying we have too many forums now...
Alex,
I stuck with this proposed format (from what I believe was an IRC meeting 2 months ago) Everyone was asked to comment here during that time, and nobody objected to this layout. There is 1 extra forum I believe (under Foundation that really had no home to be merged with...), but other than that its identical. I spent most of this morning cleaning up old posts (old as in in many forums I went all the way back to the first post) and moved them to the proper locations in the new layout (and updating them to work with the new URL convention). I guess pending more feedback I will suspend doing anything further with the forums layout.

Gonna close this, as it seems to have worked out pretty well (once Alex's requested changes were made).
The new organization is great for 0.9+ -- but we might want to put (an) '0.4-' forum(s) up there since folks will be on those releases for a long time.
