#2626 closed defect (wontfix)

Resizeabletexarea initially does not resize when loaded into content pane

Reported by: shoehn2@… Owned by: Douglas Hays

Component: Dijit Version: 0.4.2

Description

When I use the resizabletextarea and load it into a content pane it does not get resized correctly in the pane. The width of statusbar and the statuslabel are way to big and due to overflow:hidden cannot be seen anymore. Therefore you can grap the handle anymore. (Tip: if you set overflow:auto for textAreaContainerNode within Resizabletextarea.js, you can 'find' the handle to the very right)

I have provided two testcases: test1.html:

<script type="text/javascript" src="dojo/dojo.js"></script>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
	dojo.require("dojo.widget.SplitContainer");
	dojo.require("dojo.widget.ContentPane");
	dojo.require("dojo.widget.ResizableTextarea");
</script>

<a href="#" onclick="dojo.widget.byId('docpane').setUrl('resize.html');">
fill content</a>

<div dojoType="ContentPane" layoutAlign="right" id="docpane"
     executeScripts="true" style="width:500px; height: 500px">
<div >

with resize.html:

<div style="width:300px; height: 300px">
  <textarea name="description" dojoType="resizabletextarea"
            rows="5" cols="5" />
  </textarea>
</div>

I can always reproduce it with this test case. My guess is that the issue actually lies in the layoutcontainer and not in resizabletextarea.js .

Hope you can reproduce and fix it.

TIA, Stefan

In 0.9 the ResizableTextArea? widget has been replaced by TextArea? and presumably this isn't an issue. Doug?

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

The new 0.9 Textarea widget does not have a status bar or label but rather resizes to fit the content. This will not be backported to 0.4.x.
