#1829 closed enhancement (fixed)

The slider widget positions itself based on exaggerated dimensions

Description

In FF 2 on Mac and FF 1.5 in Windows, and IE 6 in Windows, dragging is broken.

When you click on the slider and drag it, it jumps to a position that doesn't correspond to mouse position. In order to move the slider, you have to drag your mouse significantly out of the expected drag area. Basically, it seems like the node being analyzed is different than the node being displayed.

It seems to be a result of http://trac.dojotoolkit.org/changeset/5946

It seems to work for me. If you are looking at the vertical or horizontal slider within tests/widget/test_Slider.html, then you may be noticing the jump scroll feature of slider when only certain values are valid and the handle jumps to the next valid position while dragging. If you click with the mouse, then it jumps to the closest position, so it looks like it is off a little. To verify correct behavior, change the boxslider to clickSelect="true" and activeDrag="true" and verify there since it does not use this feature.

When a Dojo commiter files a bug, it's usually worth looking into.

I just tested here on FF 2.0 on Windows, and it's STILL happening. Please look into this.

Let's take the horizontal slider, for example.

When I click and hold on the slider button, and move my mouse slightly to the left, it jumps all the way to the beginning. While still holding, if I move my mouse past the right side of the slider, after a while, the slider button begins to move along the slider.
