Summary: ComboBox: showing special characters in browser IEComboBox: highlighting markup shows as boxes in CodeGlass (IE)

Yes, I see it on IE8 from that link, and on https://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/1.9/dijit/form/ComboBox.html. It's related to highlighting the part of the word that the user has typed into the ComboBox?.

However, the problem is limited to something weird with CodeGlass? (or perhaps a more general problem with ComboBox? inside of an iframe). In other words, if you press the source button, download the code, and run it standalone, it runs fine on master, 1.9 branch, and 1.9.0 tag.

So, not sure why it doesn't work in CodeGlass? but there's no real issue. I'll close this as patchWelcome in case someone wants to fix how codeglass is working.

I also meet another case to reproduce the problem. Which is based upon dojo 1.9.2 toolkit. If the code is compressed (shrinksafe), in IE 9/10/11, the issue occurs. Otherwise, it's okay. Hope you can spend some effort investigating the cause and figure out a solution. Many users are complaining about this defect. many thanks.

Hmm, OK, well then please attach the test case with instructions to reproduce. If it's a shrinksafe bug though you should really switch to using uglify.
