#17382 closed enhancement (patchwelcome)

NumberTextBox: detect errors from negative numbers while typing

Reported by: rgirme Owned by:
Priority: undecided Milestone: 1.13
Component: Dijit - Form Version: 1.8.4
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:

Scenario: Create a NumberTextBox? with the following constraints: {min:0, places:0}. If the user enters an alphabet or non numeric character, an error shows up, which is AWESOME. If the user enter '-', the widget computes/presumes that user is entering a negative number and no error shows up.

Issue: If the constraint specifies that 'min' is 0, then the widget should show the error symbol and tooltip saying "The value entered is invalid". Currently it does not, since it presumes that user is entering negative number.

what would you say should happen if the user enters "-0"?

Summary: Enhancement for dijit.form.NumberTextBoxNumberTextBox: detect errors from negative numbers while typing

Also, is this an issue just as the user is typing, or after the user has tabbed away too? I figure that it will flag the error when the user tabs away.
