#16238 closed defect (invalid)

IE8: Hitting enter on a dijit.form.Button inside a dijit.form.Form submits form

Reported by: Paul Christopher Owned by: Douglas Hays
Priority: undecided Milestone: tbd
Component: Dijit - Form Version: 1.8.0
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:

Description

Description

Executing a dijit-click handler of a dijit/form/Button by keyboard (i.e. by hitting enter) submits the form in IE8 (not in IE7 and IE9) if the button is located inside a form.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  • Run the attached test case in IE8. Focus the button "Some info button". Hit enter. Observe the console. The click handler as well es the form's submit handler have logged a message.
  • Do the same in IE9: Somehow the keypress event is kept form bubbling? The form is not submitted.

Affected browsers

IE8 only (tested with IE9's IE8 mode in the debugging console).

I'm sorry for filing this ticket. Yes, you are right: It is the missing type="button" attribute. And I have just seen, it is even prominently mentioned in the docs...
