#12946 closed defect (wontfix)

Dojo CometD Documentation has a bad CometD init URL making the example difficult to use

Reported by: dojo_master Owned by: Greg Wilkins
Priority: blocker Milestone: tbd
Component: DojoX Cometd Version: 1.6.1
Keywords: comet d Cc:

Description

There is a reference to CometD oj Dojo's site at

http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/dojox/cometd.html

The example is good, however there is a line for init'ing the cometd service. This URL does not work.

dojox.cometd.init("http://cometd.dojocampus.org:9000/cometd");

http://cometd.dojocampus.org:9000/cometd

This makes the example hard to use because you cannot see the data format that the cometd service needs to return. Can you add details about the implementation of the back end Comet D service? Like, should it return JSON, etc.

I am getting a syntax error when I tried to write my own CometD service. The asynchronous call to the service is being made consistently, i just think the data returned by the service is not in the correct format. The subscribe method is not gettng called.

SyntaxError?: syntax error (undefined=""\r\n"")dojo.xd.js (line 14)

(undefined="[object XMLHttpRequest]")dojo.xd.js (line 14)

(undefined="[object Object]")dojo.xd.js (line 14)

_144()dojo.xd.js (line 14)

_142(undefined="[object Object]")dojo.xd.js (line 14)

(function(){var _1=null;if((_1
(typeo...setTimeout(dojo._loadInit,100);}})();

The CometD library has been removed from DojoX. The CometD project now maintains its own Dojo library in AMD format as part of their project. This will be available via cpm, or may be downloaded from GitHub?. See: http://cometd.org/
